We made a dream come true: we met Martín Berasategui
In 2021 we made a dream come true: we met the Spanish chef with the most Michelin stars and witnessed first-hand how one of the most important and largest kitchens in our country is organized and operated.
Martín Berasategui’s close relationship with our client Roll Drap gave us the opportunity to spend a whole day with him and his team at his famous Lasarte-Oria Restaurant.
For over 25 years, Roll Drap’s products have been used in Martín Berasategui’s kitchens daily. This is the reason why the world-renowned chef did not hesitate to star in the newest communication campaign, recommending the brand’s 100% cotton innovative textile solutions with technical finishes.
We conceptualized and defined the art direction for this communication campaign, both for photography and audio-visuals, coinciding with the launch of the Roll Drap rebranding and its e-commerce.
The art direction is evocative and adds value to Roll Drap, making the most of the enormous opportunity of a photographic session in the Lasarte-Oria Restaurant’s kitchens, where we produced images where the chef and his team use Roll Drap products while cooking.
The day before the shooting we flew to San Sebastián with great excitement, knowing it was going to be one of the most enriching experiences of our careers. However, we were also a little uncertain since we had not seen the kitchens in real live before, and because this was our first time working with Estiko, Martín Berasategui’s trusted producer.
That night we walked around the city and enjoyed the wonderful food it has to offer. With a feeling of enthusiasm, like the night before Christmas, we got ready for the big day.
The day of the shooting we arrived very early and Josu Unsain received us very warmly and introduced us to Berasategui’s world.
After the session, during which we have rejoiced in the experience of seeing how the chef and his team of almost 40 professionals prepared the service of the day, Martín Berasategui was kind enough, despite living through a difficult personal moment, to let us interview him in his own home.
He shared memories of his beginnings, where his inspiration comes from and, above all, how Roll Drap facilitates his day-to-day life in the kitchen.
This wonderful day couldn’t end better, as we were able to enjoy Lasarte-Oria’s tasting menu. We herewith attest that it deserves each and every one of its Michelin stars!
For us, conceptualizing and developing this project has been a real pleasure and a very enriching experience. We are really grateful to Martín for opening up his kitchen and his house to us, and it was a privilege to work alongside him and his team. We now admire his professionalism, perseverance and humility even more.
Thank you very much to the whole team!
