On June 8th, the grand night celebrating graphic design and visual communication unfolded. The ADG-FAD (Association of Art Directors and Graphic Designers), led by our Creative Director Esther Agustench, presented the 2023 Laus Awards.
The ADG-FAD Association presents its Laus Awards, the most representative in our national sector
In this 53rd edition of the Laus Awards, 323 projects were recognized across various categories: 4 Grand Laus, 1 Young Talent, 42 Gold Laus, 89 Silver Laus, and 177 Bronze Laus.
During the ceremony held at Palo Alto Barcelona and hosted by La Conseguidora, the daily work of professionals and students in the field of graphic design and visual communication was acknowledged and celebrated.
In her opening speech, Esther Agustench shared her purpose in assuming the presidency of ADG-FAD with over 800 attendees: “I would like graphic design to be as outstanding and representative in our country as our gastronomy is today: recognized, valued, and respected worldwide.”
She emphasized, “At ADG-FAD, we aim to foster respect and generosity within our community. If we build our movement toward a common goal, we can only win. Because there is so much TALENT! And the LAUS awards are proof of that.”
This commitment is shared by the Board of Directors and the ADG-FAD team, who work tirelessly to ensure that design and all its professionals receive the recognition they deserve.

The Jury Grants the Highest Recognition for Excellence with 4 Grand Laus and 1 Young Talent Students Award
Barcelona-based studio Arauna Studio, founded in 2014 by designer Dani Rubio Arauna, received the Grand Laus Graphic Design award for their project “Urbanismo táctico” for the Barcelona City Council.
Their graphic adaptation of the iconic “panot” of Barcelona, which has identified walking areas since the early 1900s, involves stenciled painting and transforms it into a flexible system capable of adapting to various urban spaces.
“Urbanismo táctico” serves as an open-source toolbox, interpretable by municipal teams responsible for various interventions in streets and human-friendly environments. This system provides easily recognizable coding that enhances the use of urban space and humanizes paved areas.
In the Digital category, the website of Silencio agency received the Grand Laus award for their work in the digital products category, a label they humorously dispute through this project.
The result is a website and manifesto designed as an analogy between the agency’s services and everyday products, creating a reality that blurs the line between the tangible and the intangible.
Silencio offers an immersive storytelling experience about the virtual purchase process of these products, gradually unfolding during navigation and combining typographic animations and real-time-rendered 3D elements within the web environment.
The animated short film “Muchoyó” by Jorge Martínez, F33, CØLLAGE, Arena Media, Hype for the alliance “The Children’s Revolution” (Aldeas Infantiles SOS, Educo, Plan Internacional, Save the Children, UNICEF España, and World Vision) won the Grand Laus Advertising award.
This collaborative project involved various media outlets and over 70 professionals from different disciplines to give a voice to children and adolescents. They personally demand the fulfillment of their rights in issues such as discrimination, child labor, sexual violence, or armed conflicts.
It’s a powerful tool for connecting with children through animation, music, fashion, and an inspiring character.
The short film “InTENsity” by Brut, celebrating the tenth anniversary of Bounty Banana, was awarded the Grand Laus Audiovisual award. It’s a declaration of collaboration, teamwork, and a creative love affair.
The film is a complex production, featuring numerous locations and various techniques, including live action, traditional animation, stop motion, 3D, and motion graphics. The main value of this piece lies in the integration of all these techniques, with a contemporary style that also introduces something new.
And ‘Beyond the Fringe’ is the title of the piece for which students from the BAU School, University Centre of Design (Constanza Baj, Han Tang, and Giulia Zanette) were honoured with the Young Talent Students category.
Finally, one of the most significant awards of the evening, recognizing the social value of projects, is the Laus Aporta.
The jury awarded Gabriel Silveria for ‘Internacional Progresista’ with the Laus Aporta Professional Gold, and the student from the José Val del Omar School of Art, Amanda Lázaro Rubio, received the Laus Aporta Students Gold for her project ‘Referentas.’
On this occasion, the jury included:
• Laia Costafreda, an illustrator and designer for social change
• Javier Goyeneche, president and founder of Ecoalf
• Diana Guiu, Marketing Director at APLI Group
• Esther Agustench, Creative Director and Partner at NOMON DESIGN and President of ADG-FAD
