Challenge
In 2023, Eduard Ribes, a professional with 20 years of experience in interior design for the food retail sector, embarked on a new chapter by founding his own company.
At NOMON DESIGN, we guided him through the entire process of defining and creating his new brand, from strategy to corporate branding, including the design of all communication materials.
For several months, we worked to ensure that the branding reflected the essence and values of his new company: experience and expertise, design, service, and commitment, and above all, teamwork.
Process
To develop the strategy and branding for the new company, we began with a research and analysis phase, studying benchmark companies and competitors in retail, refrigeration, and interior design. This phase was complemented by an in-depth interview and a NOMON TEST with the founder and director of the company.
Based on our findings, we defined the company’s verbal identity, including its purpose, vision, values, storytelling, descriptor, tagline, and naming. Given Eduard Ribes’ 20 years of experience and knowledge, we positioned the new company as a reference in food retail design, recognised for the quality and aesthetics of its projects and its personalised client support.
We summarised this positioning in the descriptor: “Design of commercial spaces for the food sector”, which we later simplified to “Design of commercial spaces.”
We established the company’s core values as experience and expertise, design, service and commitment, and teamwork. The importance of teamwork led us to propose a name that did not revolve around its founder but rather embraced all the people involved in the company.
Drawing inspiration from the architectural concept of the dihedral system, a method for representing three-dimensional space on a flat surface, we proposed DIEDRIC DESIGN as the name for the new company.
This geometric-inspired naming required a corporate identity to match. We used the Caslon Doric Extended typeface, a sans-serif font characterised by its width, which conveys a sense of spaciousness and architectural depth.
To further enhance this concept, we played with a mirror effect between the two words—DIEDRIC and DESIGN—creating a logo that is strong, structured, flexible, and distinctive, clearly representing the brand’s identity.
For communication materials, we selected HK Grotesk Bold Semibold as the secondary typeface.
We also defined a colour palette that balances premium materials and modern digital communication. The palette includes black, grey (Pantone 421U), and brown (Pantone Black 7U), representing noble materials like wood and steel. In contrast, we introduced fluorescent green (Pantone 916U), a vibrant and dynamic colour associated with digital communication and innovation.
This combination creates a visually balanced identity, blending the solidity and elegance of premium construction materials with the energy, commitment, and dynamism of teamwork and the founder’s entrepreneurial spirit.
Finally, we applied the new branding across all corporate communication materials, including print assets, digital communication, the website, and social media.
Result
The corporate branding we created for DIEDRIC DESIGN encapsulates the essence of this new company.
The broad and balanced design of the logo conveys a sense of spaciousness and architectural depth, aligning with its values of creating functional, aesthetically appealing, and well-designed environments.
The distinctive typography not only gives the brand a unique and easily recognisable identity but also strengthens its positioning as a leader in food retail design. Its refined and professional aesthetic clearly communicates the excellence of its design services, establishing a direct connection with its target audience.
Every visual element has been carefully selected to instil confidence and reinforce the perception of DIEDRIC DESIGN as a studio that seamlessly combines functionality and client commitment in every project.
