Challenge

A tailor-made, premium, and sustainable packaging solution for a century-old textile brand

In 2023, we collaborated with Bassols, a century-old brand and leader in bedding, bath, and table linens for homes and five-star hotels.

Our challenge was to conceptualise and redesign premium packaging that was sustainable, in line with the company’s philosophy, and communicated their brand positioning.

Additionally, it had to meet Bassols’ specific requirements: be durable, effectively protect the product, stand out from the competition at the point of sale, and be cost-effective both in terms of production and logistics.

Process

We developed packaging with Bassols that highlights the quality of their raw material: the fabric

The first step in developing Bassols’ new packaging was to understand their key requirements: it had to effectively protect the product, stand out at the point of sale, be sustainable, and optimised in terms of cost and logistics.

Additionally, it had to align with the brand’s premium positioning, offering a luxury experience for their consumers.

We explored several concepts, primarily focusing on the dual use of the packaging and highlighting the quality of the raw material: the fabric.

We eliminated the plastic bag, which, although it provided effective protection and competitive cost – difficult to match by other proposals – did not align with Bassols’ sustainable values.

We decided to replace it with packaging made of a material that not only protected the product but also showcased the quality of the fabric itself.

Thus, we created a highly qualitative, customised 100% cotton bag that, in addition to protecting the product, displayed the finish of the item, reinforcing the perception of luxury and quality that defines Bassols.

We developed the bag in close collaboration with the brand’s textile workshop, working meticulously on the pattern and every detail to ensure the packaging was both aesthetically pleasing and functional.

In terms of the graphical communication, we placed special emphasis on designing a sustainable piece made of cotton paper, which not only contained all the product information but also clearly conveyed the attributes and complexities of each item, as well as its place within the collection. This ensured that consumers could fully understand the value and essence of each product.

Result

A sustainable and distinctive packaging solution that positions Bassols as a leader in its sector

The new packaging – a 100% cotton bag – is the perfect combination of functionality, sustainability, and exclusivity, positioning the brand as a leader in its sector.

This versatile solution, adaptable to the different product formats offered by the company, adds value in terms of sustainability, differentiation, and consumer connection. Furthermore, it meets the requirements for both retail and online sales while remaining cost-competitive and logistically efficient, meeting the expectations of both Bassols and the end consumer.

This project for Bassols reflects our commitment to creating sustainable packaging solutions that not only protect the product but also communicate the brand’s values and enhance the user experience.
