Challenge
We have conceptualized and developed Famatel’s new packaging for its range of multiple sockets. Famatel is a manufacturer operating in the international electrical sector with more than 30 years of experience.
Our main challenge was to eliminate plastic from this range of products’ packaging and communicate the new features that have been added to the product, to improve its connectivity and safety.
Process
NOMON DESIGN has worked on defining and conceptualizing the packaging of Famatel’s new range of multiple sockets.
The following attributes have played a role in the development of the different packaging pieces for this large-scale collection: the number of sockets, whether or not they have a cable, the finish being either black or white, whether or not they have an illuminated switch, whether or not they have an USB port and a surge protector.
At NOMON DESIGN we have taken into account two objectives to develop this packaging range:
1. The need for continuity and relevance within the firm’s corporate identity, consistent and using negative spaces, providing the pieces with character and vitality and making them stand out at the point of sale.
2. The need to uphold Famatel’s commitment to replace plastic packaging with more sustainable solutions.
Following both objectives, and aiming to communicate the product’s new features, we created a packaging range that, in addition to its primary protective function, shows the product in real size, revealing its finishes without the need of plastic.
The art direction was meticulously devised to highlight the product, explain its features, and how to use it.
Result
The result is a packaging range in line with Famatel’s commitment to sustainability, which stands out and differentiates itself from the usual plastic blister or shrink-wrapped packs of the competition.
The product’s neat and direct communication makes it approachable for the end consumer and, thanks to its branding, it is quickly and easily recognizable at the point of sale.
